Not every method may support your device. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, this guide uses the universal method.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-install-kodi-on-your-raspberry-pinbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbsp\"><strong>How to Install Kodi on Your Raspberry Pi         <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The easiest way to install Kodi on your Raspberry Pi is by using a Kodi-centric Linux distribution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three most popular are:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/xbian.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Xbian<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/osmc.tv\/wiki\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OSMC<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.libreelec.tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">LibreELEC<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve chosen OSMC because it\u2019s fast, easy to install, free, and supports nearly every (if not all) Raspberry Pi model.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OSMC provides you with two ways to install its Kodi-based OS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can either use their installer or manually download and install the image on your device. Let\u2019s start with the former:<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"automatically-installing-osmc-kodi-distributionnbsp\"><strong>Automatically Installing OSMC Kodi Distribution <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>This tutorial requires you to have the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Raspberry PI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/SD_card\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">SD Card<\/a> with at least 1024MB of free space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Windows (XP SP2 +)\/MacOS (12.6+)\/Linux (AMD 64-bit) based Computer with a stable internet connection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SD\/Memory card reader\/writer for your PC (internal or external)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"once-youve-ensured-you-have-the-required-equipment-you-can-install-osmc\">Once you\u2019ve ensured you have the required equipment, you can install OSMC:<\/h4>\n\n\n<p>Insert your SD Card into your PC\u2019s SD card reader.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Download the <a href=\"https:\/\/osmc.tv\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OSMC installer<\/a> for your platform. Supported platforms include Windows, Linux, and MacOS.<br>*Note: The images and examples in this guide are taken from the Windows installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Run the installation files. The OSMC installer will take a few moments to load and startup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please ensure that you have stable internet connectivity.<br><\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"select-your-language-and-the-device-raspberry-pi-model-you-want-to-install-kodi-on-before-clicking-on-the-next-button\">Select your language and the device (Raspberry Pi model) you want to install Kodi on before clicking on the next button:<br><\/h4>\n\n\n<p>Next, the installer will ask you to select the version. Select the latest version from the drop-down menu and click on the next button:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, pick which channel you\u2019d like to use to install the OS on your Raspberry Pi (MicroSD Card).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose your internet connection (Wireless for Wi-Fi or Wired for direct fiber, DSL, etc.) and click the next button. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, you can manually configure the network settings.<br><br>OSMC must download the appropriate image for your device. If you can\u2019t find it, try physically removing and reinserting your SD card before clicking the refresh button. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the next button once you\u2019ve found and selected your SD card from the list:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accept the End User License Agreement once you\u2019ve read it:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The OSMC installer then downloads the appropriate files and automatically flashes them onto your SD Card. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installer may display a warning or confirmation dialog before each download and installation phase commences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please confirm when you asked to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the installation is complete, you can close the installer and remove your SD Card. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installer will display a Congratulations message and OSMC\u2019s social media information.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove your SD Card from your PC and insert it into your Raspberry Pi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the prompts, and OSMC should be installed on your device.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"manually-installing-osmc-on-your-raspberry-pi\"><strong>Manually Installing OSMC on Your Raspberry Pi<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>You do not need to rely on OSMC\u2019s installer &#8211; at least not fully. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users with firewall or internet stability issues may find it easier to flash the OSMC image files manually. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these cases, you can use <a href=\"http:\/\/etcher.io\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Etcher<\/a> or select the \u2018Use local build from my computer\u2019 option from the OSMC installer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how to download the image file:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Navigate to the <a href=\"https:\/\/osmc.tv\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OSMC download page<\/a>. Click on Disk Images:<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new section should appear. Select the latest version of the OSMC image under the appropriate model:<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve downloaded the OSMC image on your local computer, you can flash it on your SD card using one of the previously mentioned methods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can then use it to boot your Raspberry Pi.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what if you prefer your current Raspberry Pi operating system or distribution and only want to install the Kodi application?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-install-the-kodi-application-on-your-raspberry-pi\"><strong>How to Install The Kodi Application on Your Raspberry Pi<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>The following steps will require that your Raspberry Pi is connected to the internet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be <a href=\"https:\/\/hardwarehow.com\/how-to-add-wifi-to-raspberry-pi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wi-Fi<\/a> or LAN, depending on your model.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>You must use the Linux terminal (ctrl+alt+T) or <a href=\"https:\/\/hardwarehow.com\/how-to-access-raspberry-pi-ssh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SSH<\/a> to install Kodi on your Raspberry Pi.
